Here's the deal with how big these are. Each of these windows is along a single spiral staircase which winds all the way up. The cores of these things are hollow. So each "floor" is a good 12 feet from the previous one.

To get up TO the spires, one must negotiate these tiny spiral staircases. The lip on the stairs serves as a handrail from below. They're very tight.
